Social media is already crucial for marketers. It’s therefore just as crucial to keep up with the trends. Here’s a few.
Short Videos Continue
The trend towards short videos on social platforms has become increasingly noticeable. Originating from platforms like TikTok, Instagram’s Reels, and YouTube’s Shorts, short videos are quickly becoming a preferred method of consuming content for their compact format and swift message delivery. Recent studies bolster this trend, with 73% of consumers saying they prefer short-form videos to search for products or services. Notably, 57% of Gen Z, an influential demographic, favor short videos for learning about products and services. According to a global survey, as many as 90% of marketers plan to increase their short-form video budget in 2023, illustrating a significant shift in content consumption and marketing trends.
Messaging Tools for Business
Messaging is the new social media, with more and more people now switching to private messaging groups to share their latest updates, as opposed to posting publicly. As a result, and as it looks for more opportunities to keep its ad business humming, Meta will add a range of new ad options aligned with messaging, following on from the popularity of its “Click To Message Ads”, which have become a bigger consideration for many. Essentially, if you want to reach customers, you’ll need to consider messaging, while Meta will also continue to develop new business messaging tools to capitalize on the ubiquity of WhatsApp in various emerging markets.
Authenticity
If you are on social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, you may have noticed a substantial shift in the type of content users are posting’. Users on social media are putting a high priority on being more authentic on their social media platforms. On TikTok, there are lots of influencers that are using their platforms to be real and raw about struggles like parenting, mental illness, etc. So as a business owner or content creator, being as authentic as possible will be beneficial for you in the coming years.
AI
Another of the new social media trends is tapping into AI for social media content. AI tools are taking the world by storm, from ChatGPT to Microsoft Bing AI. These tools can generate information within seconds, which makes them appealing for 2024. More businesses will use AI tools because it will help them generate information faster and save time.
