Summer marketing will be competitive this year. Here’s some trends to watch for.
Influencers
This isn’t a new trend and has been talked about for the last many years. Yet, influencer marketing hasn’t been a norm up until now. Though fashion brands and others have used it aggressively, it is a long way to go in terms of becoming mainstream. 2022 is expected to be the year influencer marketing becomes the norm and this isn’t surprising as 70% of teens trust influencers more than celebrities. In 2021, it crossed the $13 billion thresholds, and it will be one of the biggest marketing trends to watch out for in 2022.
Video
What do 90% of social media have in common in 2022? They all have a section where you can get a short snippet of information. Instagram has stories, YouTube has Reels. TikTok built its entire social network on “rapid-fire videos”. TikTok reached one billion users in 2021, an impressive number that should highlight the importance of video as a content marketing asset. Marketers can use videos as much more than an advertising tool, they can be a medium to narrate stories through vlogs or guides or can consider using videos with the other trends stated in this article for a successful marketing campaign in 2022.
Social Awareness
Another trend to watch out for is the need for brands to prioritize social responsibility. With the current state of our planet, social responsibility and transparency are growing more and more important to the modern consumer. The population – and particularly the younger generation – are demanding companies do more to help save our planet and are becoming more aware of the impact that their own purchases have on concerning issues such global warming. As a result, the “conscious consumerist” is choosing to move away from those brands they deem not to be responsible and move towards those who are showing themselves to be taking it seriously.
Interactive Content
Buyers are becoming more and more independent in their journey. Marketers need to take this into consideration and make things easier for the users. Businesses might have to put more time and effort into keeping the prospect engaged and helping them find what they are looking for, so one trend that might manifest itself in 2022 is the rise of interactive content.
