Social Media Trends to Watch for This Spring

Published on February 17, 2025

Social media will be an interesting landscape for marketers this year. Here’s how things will be changing and impacting your content.

AI

Social media is not an exception to how AI is changing digital marketing. To improve features and assist in forming activities at scale, artificial intelligence is included into major social media platforms. Marketers are using AI to produce social media content, including influencers, text, photos, and videos. Data analysis, personalization, automated customer support via sophisticated chatbots, and improved social network advertising success are all possible with its assistance. The primary advantage of employing AI for social media, according to 38% of marketers, is increased efficiency. This is followed by easier idea generating (34%), and higher content output (33%), says Statista.

Short Video

On social media, videos have always been popular, but the rise in popularity of TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts has led to a boom in short-form videos. Indeed, according to Meta, videos now account for 60% of the time spent on Facebook and Instagram. Because consumers’ attention spans are getting shorter and there is a lot of content available online, short-form video gives marketers a means to interact with consumers in brief, snappy moments. The secret is to use narrative and be genuine to convey your message quickly.

Social Commerce

Sales of social commerce are expected to reach over $2 trillion worldwide. More sophisticated shoppable advertisements, influencer-driven product placements based on data insights to promote direct sales, and more integrated and personalized shopping capabilities across platforms are all anticipated in 2025.

User-Generated Content

As customers want more authenticity from the brands they support, user-generated content (UGC) continues to gain prominence. In addition to building trust, user-generated content (UGC) produces measurable business outcomes. UGC revenue reached $8 billion, a 63% increase from the previous year. Additionally, websites containing user-generated content (UGC) had an 11% increase in Average Order Value (AOV) over those without, demonstrating UGC’s capacity to stimulate increased customer spending.

Authentic Storytelling

Due to social media saturation, marketers must figure out how to differentiate themselves from the competition to connect with their target audiences. One strategy used by brands to stand out from the competition on the timeline is the creation of original content. Authenticity, relatability, and entertainment are the qualities that consumers prioritize when ranking the most and least significant aspects of brand material.
